Games to Look Out for in October

So, in October we see the release of many triple AAA games, but which ones are you looking forward to the most? With so many games releasing next month, I thought I’d give you a quick recap of what’s to come.

Battlefield 1 (October 21st)

A military first-person shooter set in the World War I period. The hype surrounding the next title in the Battlefield series is quite high, but will it live up to its hype? From what I have played of the betas, it’s certainly going to be great fun for sure.

Mafia III (October 7th)

This open world gangster game is the third in the series and set in 1968 in a reimagined New Orleans called New Bordeaux. Lincoln Clay returns from Vietnam to escape criminal life only to find his surrogate family wiped out by the Italian Mafia. This is where your story begins.

Civilization VI (October 21st)

Sid Meier is known for his 4X strategy games, mainly Civilization. Spanning over six games in the series plus countless spin offs, Civilization VI looks to update the series even further. Having put crazy amounts of hours into Civilization myself, I personally can’t wait.

FIFA 17 (September 29th)

Yes, I know its official release date is September 29th, but it may as well be October. EA have changed the series yet again with its inclusion of the Frostbite engine from Battlefield, and it now looks better than ever. What sets it apart this year is the new mode known as ‘The Journey’ where you take on the role of Hunter, an up and coming football star rising through the ranks to the top level. This is the first time EA have put a story mode into FIFA.

Gears of War 4 (October 11th)

Microsoft’s next title in the third-person shooter series is heading to both PC and Xbox for the first time together. You play as JD Fenix, son of Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud from the previous GoWs. GoW 4 is set 25 years after the previous game in the series and sees you dealing with a new threat to humanity. Will it live up to previous Gears of War titles now that Epic Games are no longer the developers of the series?

Titanfall 2 (October 28th)

Giant mech suits with guns always seem to do well in games. Titanfall was no exception in this case. Take to your suit next month and find yourself kicking some mech butt yet again. This first-person shooter sees you controlling both the pilots and the mech suits, with the pilots having jet packs to get around and avoid the mechs.
