5 More Kickstarter Games to Consider Backing

A few weeks back I brought you 5 Current Kickstarter Games to Consider Backing. Unfortunately, the success rate for those projects has been rather grim. This time around I have modified my selection process a bit, and hopefully it produces some better results. Most of the projects presented are very close to their goal, with a little push they should all be able to be successful. Off we go with 5 More Kickstarter Games to Consider Backing.

Slaps and Beans – This project came to my attention literally 2 minutes after the last article went up. While I’m not even remotely familiar with Slaps and Beans, this looks absolutely fantastic. This classic retro platformer seems like a safe bet as it’s very close to its goal with 31 days remaining ($128k of $142k). What are you waiting for? Go check it out! (Project has been Greenlit on Steam)

Slaps and Beans is a co-operative or single player scrolling beat’ em up game with the addition of platform elements and mini-games in which we interpret the characters of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill who they made famous in their movies of the 70’s and 80’s. The key ingredients of Slaps and Beans are:

Retro pixel art graphics

Bud & Terence style fighting system

Co-op multiplayer

Mini-games

A red with yellow tarp Dune Buggy

A lot of slaps and a lot of beans (obviously)

Agony – If you are more in the mood for something a lot more dark, then I have the perfect thing for you. Okay, dark is really an understatement here. If the survival horror genre isn’t horrific enough for you, this one takes you to Hell. Horror fans rejoice, everyone else, maybe skip the video. At $38k of its $49k goal with 30 days, it’s also another pretty safe bet that it will be successful. (Coming to Steam and Demo available with pledge)

(Seriously, don’t watch if you are easily disturbed)

Agony shows the most terrifying vision of hell in the history of gaming. Explore the lake of fire with visually stunning graphics and take an ultimate trip into madness of horror.

A Little Less Desperation – More in the mood for a point and click adventure? How about a tale of a vegetable farmer who is the last guy aliens from outer space would want to abduct? With just $1,500 to go to meet their goal and 22 days left, this is one more that should be successful. Point and click adventure games have certainly been making a comeback, and this seems like one worth taking into consideration. (Demo available on Kickstarter page)

A Little Less Desperation is an episodic, yet classic point-and-click adventure game. We have it all: Science fiction, love interests, long-lost Kings, slapstick humor, puns upon puns, interstellar mining and… cucumbers!

The galaxy (as usual) needs to be saved! But instead of a real hero, our protagonist is Jacob, a vegetable farmer. Our idea was to create a science fiction story about the heroic rescue of our galaxy, and leave out the hero. But don’t worry, in the end Jacob won’t screw up as badly as you (and also we) might expect him to!

Ancient Frontier – If you’d rather be shooting at things from space instead, the next 2 are for you. This turn based strategy game set in space is a good option. Space games in all forms are also seeing a resurgence. For fans of such games as XCOM, Master of Orion, or Age of Wonders, this isn’t to be missed. Just $1,200 shy of their goal with 19 days to go, it’s one more for the “most likely” to succeed bunch. (Game will be available on Steam)

Ancient Frontier is a cinematic turn-based strategy PC game with RPG elements set in the far future. You command the fleet with combat inspired by games like XCOM, Master of Orion or Age of Wonders. Players will explore, conquer, pillage, or liberate the frontiers of space. Take control of massive fleets of capital ships and support craft as you play through multiple campaigns.

The universe is built off of the story established in our first project, Bladestar, but takes it much deeper with warring factions, double crossing corporations, privateers, and galactic governments. A wide cast of characters join the various factions bringing with them unique ships and personality.

Space Wars: Interstellar Empires – While similar to the previous entry, Space Wars: Interstellar Empires mixes it up and adds in the MMO genre. Space is hot right now (the genre, not actual space, that’s still pretty cold), so it’s not bad to have some options. With nearly $14k of its $40k goal and 16 days remaining, this is the furthest away from completing a successful campaign on this list.  That’s not to say it won’t be successful, however, it all depends on you.

Space Wars: Interstellar Empires is a turn-based tactical strategy MMO where you will join one of four races, each with their own playstyle, and gain access to hundreds of visually-distinct ships. Once you’ve selected your race, you’ll choose a starting ship, spawn point, customize your Captain and command a crew. Conquer galactic territories through combat, complete missions, and use experience to upgrade your crew or acquire more powerful ships in an RPG format.

Well, there you have it folks, 5 more games for your Kickstarter backing pleasure. Lots of good looking stuff on the list and nearly all extremely close to being funded. Of course, the X-factor in all of it is always you. Even if you never backed before, that’s OK. There’s always a first time for everything. You never know what you might find. Good luck and happy backing.

Space Wars just got updated with some slightly better rewards and also released a downloadable ship viewer so you can see some of the ships:
