Dovetail Games Flight Sim Delayed, X-Plane 11 Due Out Any Day Now

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: A flight sim has been delayed. Dovetail Games issued a short statement earlier today announcing a delay in their coming flight sim based off the FSX license. Back in May they released Dovetail Games Flight School, which was aimed at beginners in the flight sim genre. Of course, it’s hard to keep the veterans away from anything new involving flight. Originally scheduled to release late this year, the team is taking time to address issues some have had with Flight School.

Earlier this year, we announced the development of our new flight simulator, which generated an incredible amount of excitement in the community. We would like to thank you all for the tremendous amount of interest and support we have received so far.

Based on your feedback, we have been focusing on three key areas: visuals, performance and experience, all of which are instrumental to the hobby. In order to further enhance these areas, we have made the decision to postpone the release of this project.

In the meantime, we expect to have a detailed development update for you in the New Year. As a team, we are incredibly excited to share what we have been up to! Until then, we hope you have a fantastic holiday season and look forward to making 2017 a great year for flight simulation.

Have no fear though, your holiday is not going to be completely devoid of new sims. Fans of the X-Plane series should expect the latest edition “any day now”. Officially, the release date is “holiday season 2016”. For those looking to pre-purchase, you can do so here. Doing so will also give you instant access to X-Plane 10 if you do not already own it.

It certainly looks amazing. Here’s hoping that it does indeed come out soon rather than Soon™. Having a new sim for the holidays would be a welcome addition. I’m sure it would give many a new playground to enjoy some new “toys” they may acquire.

*Update* X-Plane 11 beta is now out, see our preview HERE
