Rumour: Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Feature 3 Protagonists, Online Component Will Launch After Release

There have been a few rumours circulating regarding Red Dead Redemption 2 since it was revealed a few months ago. The latest rumour doing the rounds though is the most interesting and suggests that Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature three playable protagonists.

According to a credible 4Chan user, who has previously leaked the last two DLCs for Grand Theft Auto Online, Red Dead Redemption 2 will have three playable protagonists. Not only that, but the poster went on to say that Red Dead Redemption 2 would have an online component, but that it would launch after the game’s initial release. If true, that means that only the single-player will be playable when the game first releases.

Just like in Grand Theft Auto V, it looks like Red Dead Redemption 2 will focus on three characters whose stories intertwine with one another, allowing players to switch freely between any of the three characters at will. Rockstar’s decision to include three playable protagonists in GTA V was extremely popular, so it’s no surprise that it looks like they are keen to do the same in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The 4Chan user also added that Red Dead Redemption 2 will keep inline with the events of Red Dead Redemption, with all three playable protagonists being former members of John Marston’s gang, who is the main character in RDR. Unfortunately, John Marston himself will not be one of those playable characters.

“It’ll be just like Redemption. Single player story, open world, stranger events, gang hideouts and all that shit,” the poster stated. “Three playable characters of John’s former gang, and John isn’t one.”

He added, “The online mode will release later on, just like with GTA 5. If it came out day one, nobody would play the single player and you ***** would crash the servers.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release in Fall 2017 on PS4 and Xbox One.
