Valve Completely Ignores Attempt at Getting Half-Life 3 Nominated for a Steam Award

Valve launched its very first Steam Awards last month which allowed fans to nominate games for an award. It proved extremely popular as Valve received more than 15 million nominations. There were a number of different award categories put up, but gamers used one particular category to tell Valve to make Half-Life 3, and if not, to at the very least acknowledge Half-Life 3 in some capacity.

Valve created a wildcard category called the “We Didn’t Think of Everything” award which asked gamers to come up with their own category and vote for a game to win that category. Half-Life fans came together collectively and put forward the “Game That Deserves A Sequel” award and nominated Half-Life 2: Episode 2 to take home the gong.

Unfortunately, it seems that all of that effort was for nothing, as Valve have not included the category or the Half-Life nomination anywhere in their official nominations list. In fact, Valve totally refused to acknowledge the category or the attempt at all, despite expanding the “We Didn’t Think of Everything” award to include four user picked categories instead of the initial one.

While there won’t be a “Game That Deserves A Sequel” award or a win for Half-Life 3, there will at least be the “Boom Boom”, “Love/Hate Relationship”, “Sit Back and Relax” and “Better With Friends” awards. Not that it will bring much joy to fans who are waiting “patiently” for Half-Life 3.

Now that all of the nominations have been revealed for all of the categories, voting will open on December 22nd and will run until December 30th; however, you won’t be able to vote for every category straightaway as a new category unlocks every day up until December 30th. There are nine categories in total with five nominations for each one.  The winners of each category will be announced on New Year’s Eve.
