Destiny 2 Gameplay Revealed in New Trailer, PC Version Becomes Battle.net Exclusive

Bungie throws in some decent gameplay footage of the upcoming Destiny 2, while announcing something totally unexpected with Blizzard.

The developers had introduced the gameplay experience through a spectacular event in Los Angeles. During the event, audiences watched the actions of the first campaign mission featuring Guardians under siege by the villainous Red Legion. Although there isn’t much change in the HUD and interfaces, gameplay mechanics have received significant improvements, such as the overhauled melee system and the inclusion of gatling guns. All of the classes from the first Destiny installment will return in the sequel, along with two new classes: Sentinel and Arcstrider. Moreover, tanks will be introduced in the list of drivable vehicles in the game.

After criticisms of a lack of content in Destiny, Bungie announced that Destiny 2 will have more quests in the story campaign and strike/raid missions. Players will have the chance to explore new planets and moons in the solar system that were not included in the first game. One big change in the game is that players can directly teleport themselves to any locations in the open world without the need to ascend to orbit. There’ll be new locations that include large areas for exploration and vehicular combat. The PvP experience in Destiny 2 also has a major overhaul by including new game modes and a modified HUD. However, it will downsize the number of players per match from 6v6 to just 4v4.

As for the PC version, Bungie and Blizzard have jointly announced the distribution of Destiny 2 as a Blizzard app/Battle.net exclusive. This is considered to be a smart move in financial terms, since Battle.net services already possessed a large player base focusing on PC and MMO games. Destiny 2 itself can be marked as the first non-Blizzard game to distribute on Battle.net. The PC version will also support unlocked framerates and potentially unlimited game regions.

Destiny 2 is slated to have a release across current-gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) on 8th September 2017, with timed-exclusive deals for PS4, such as early access to new content and major expansions.
