Nvidia helping to improve Batman: Arkham Knight on PC

Nvidia are working alongside Warner Bros. to fix and improve Batman: Arkham Knight on PC, Nvidia’s Tom Peterson has confirmed. Nvidia are putting some of their best engineers to work on the PC version of Akrham Knight after a disastrous launch for the final game in the Arkham series, which saw it release on PC in a barely playable state, leading to it being pulled from Steam not long after its release.

The work Peterson and his team are doing will benefit PC users across the board, regardless of whether or not they are running Nvidia hardware.

“We’re fixing a ton of things that are not necessarily related to us,” Peterson said when speaking to MMORPG.com. “Some of it may be related to our driver, some not. But at the end of the day the game is the focus and we’re going to make it great.”

“We have 200 to 300 engineers that are really visual scientists,” he added. “They’re the best out there. Artists, Ph.D.s. … We’ve taken the approach that says let’s capture what they’ve got in their minds, convert it to algorithms … test it and QA it, and then provide it as middleware effectively to game developers.”

Admiting that Warner Bros made a few mistakes trying to get Batman: Arkham Knight out the door, Nvidia are determined to make the game as good as it possibly can be, and Peterson is also a fan of the game itself, saying that people will be delighted when the game makes its way back onto Steam at some point in the future.

“I look at [Arkham Knight] as an example of where Nvidia can help a developer get to market with a quality game,” Peterson said. “Warner Bros. … made a few mistakes getting the game out. It wasn’t fully performance optimized for PC. So now we’re deploying our QA resources and our engineers to make that game as good as it possibly can be.”

“I gotta tell you on the releases I’ve seen it is a fantastic game,” he said. “It plays great, it’s tons of fun and the effects are amazing. And I can tell you that when Warner Bros. makes it available on Steam again that people are going to be delighted.”

An update for Batman: Akrham Knight aimed at improving the games performance and optimization on PC is scheduled for August, however there isn’t a timeframe as of yet for when Warner Bros plan to re-release the game onto Steam.
