EA Expects Battlefield 1 to Sell 15 Million Units, Titanfall 2 to Sell Between 9 and 10 Million

EA has announced during their Q1 earnings call that they expect Battlefield 1 to sell around 15 million units on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with Titanfall 2, the publisher’s other FPS releasing later this year, expected to sell between 9 and 10 million units.

The publisher stated that a Battlefield game typically sells around 15 million units in a year, and that is why they have put Battlefield 1 estimates in that ballpark, however, they hope that sales figures will surpass that estimate as hype builds for the game the closer we get to launch on October 21st.

Titanfall 2 on the other hand will be released on October 28th and will be available on all platforms, which is why EA anticipate the game selling more units than the first Titanfall, which was an Xbox One and PC exclusive.

Speaking during their earnings call, chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said, “We’ve told people that typically a Battlefield title does about 15 million in a year. Our guidance is slightly under that [for Battlefield 1], and we hope that that excitement builds and it will clearly go through that number. But for right now, it’s slightly under that number.”

“And Titanfall did a little more than 7 million units last time. It was early in the cycle and one of the few titles out there. We think it’ll do more than that, but it’s probably closer to 10 million than it is to 15 million as built into our guidance,” Jorgensen added.

“So closer to 9 million to 10 million on Titanfall and just under 15 million on Battlefield 1.”

Late October and heading into November will be a busy time for gamers with three of this year’s biggest games releasing within a matter of weeks of each other. Battlefield 1 is the first game to release on October 21st, with Titanfall 2 releasing a week later on October 28th.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be arriving a week later on November 4th, and despite the seeming lack of interest in the title, the game is expected to sell well and may surpass sales of Battlefield 1 as a result of including a remastered copy of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
