UK pre-orders of The Division soar on Xbox One ahead of alpha

Following news that a closed alpha test for The Division is to begin later this week, sales of The Division have soared by 1020% as gamers look to secure their participation in the closed alpha, Amazon UK’s Movers & Snakers chart has revealed.

According to Amazon, the The Division was the 594th best-selling game, but due to Ubisoft’s announcement yesterday it has seen the game climb just over 540 places to number 53. For comparison, the PS4 version sits in at number 572.

Ubisoft made the announcement yesterday that the alpha was only going to be available on Xbox One, meaning that the closed beta test which had been scheduled for the Xbox One later this month will instead take place in early 2016 and will involve all platforms. So if you are looking to grab The Division on PS4 or PC, you’ll have to wait until early 2016 to try the beta.

As a result, anyone who has pre-ordered a copy of The Division on Xbox One will gain access to the closed alpha when it goes live, hence the surge in pre-orders for the game through Amazon. A select few will however be selected to take part in the alpha without owning The Division.

The Division is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 8, 2016 following several delays.
